WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of an item by +3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item upgrade has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any type of weapon or armor. However, the item used to upgrade will be consumed forever and will not be able to be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be visited anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks, to keep your equipment up to date.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current level of the gear being upgraded, but will always be less expensive than purchasing new equipment from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items which can be used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and other accessories. They can be purchased from item upgraders NPCs for a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. button, which will display an item's preview at the next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot for the item and the current item Level Upgrade level. For instance weapons cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currency types.

Many locations offer item upgraders, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. In Season 3 the upgrade system has been modified a bit, and numerous new features added. After a player has upgraded to a certain item level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. The discount is applicable to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is cut as well, but is only available when certain milestones are reached.

Crests

When upgrading gear in WoW players have a variety of options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

First, you must be aware that crests are only available for equipment of a certain rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and easiest upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade requires up to 20 crests, depending on the type of gear being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that involves walking around and engaging in outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, dungeons or raids of all difficulty for items of higher tier or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons to obtain endgame gear. Crests can be exchanged at an item upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.

The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, but it will bring some changes to the upgrade process. For instance, once a piece of equipment reaches the highest upgrade level of any rank (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero, or Mythic), it won't require Flightstones to be upgraded. This allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible level on all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

Another significant modification is that crests have one purpose and it's crucial to use them properly. It's Best item upgrade to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the highest-quality gear you can locate and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially applicable to rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to avail the account-wide discount if all slots are full of high-quality equipment.
